Post Malone Returns To The Stage, Addresses Injury That Prevented Boston Performance
Following a health scare earlier in the week, Post Malone arrived at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Tuesday night (Sept. 27) — and he was ready to play ball.
Coming into the show, there were concerns about Malone’s health after he was hospitalised with an injury.
The “Rockstar” rapper had awoken with “stabbing pain” whenever he “breathed or moved,” a lingering effect from falling through an open trap door on stage earlier this month during his Twelve Carat Tour stop in St. Louis.
As a result, he was forced to cancel his Sept. 24 show in Boston, he explained on social media.
Malone appeared to have had no negative effects in Ohio.
Postie addressed the situation during a break in the show.
“Unfortunately, I had to cancel my last show.” Because I really busted ass in the middle of the stage over there,” he said, pointing to the spot with his free hand, holding a beer. “And I woke up with my ribs cracking and f***ing up, and I couldn’t really breathe so well,” he explained in a fan-shot video.
While Posty is healing from his injuries, his career is thriving, with “I Like You (A Happier Song),” his Twelve Carat Toothache collaboration with Doja Cat, reaching No. 1 on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart (dated Oct. 1). The achievement is each of the stars’ fifth career No. 1 on the list.
Twelve Carat Toothache, his fourth studio album, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 after its June release, following two consecutive leaders.
On Wednesday, the tour will visit PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Sept. 28).
